Week of Welcoming
In this new year of 2024, Raffles College (RC) is preparing to welcome our new students by organizing an event with the theme “Week of Welcoming” on Monday, 8 January 2024 at Raffles College.
This event aims to welcome our January 2024 intake students as well as our current students. This event is addressed to give our students a fresh enthusiasm for the new academic year.
This event is opened by the welcoming speech from the College Director, Mr. Arifin Fu regarding on the new changes of the academic calendar. In the Business major, there will be a deduction of subjects from 4 to 3 for each term, changes in period of term will also apply on both Business and Design major from 4 months to 3 months for each term.
Apart from that, the Head of Design and Business Program, respectively Mr. Arif Ali and Mr. Jeffrey also introduced themself while also giving a few words to encourage our students while also introducing the lecturers in their respective departments.
The event of Week of Welcoming also used as a means to introduce the RC Student Council, namely the members managing the campus activities and the learning system at RC which was presented by Student Life, Ms. Griselda. Ms. Griselda also used this opportunity to inform new students of the existing regulations at RC, she explains how to dress in the campus, including the assignments deadlines and how to submit the assignments. It is also explained about Raffles Enrichment Program or REP points where students have to be active in involving on the non-academic activities at RC to get activity points. RC also provides student activity units, or you could say RC clubs such as Basketball, Futsal, Mandarin and Photography.
This event is also enlivened by Kahoot games with the questions regarding the academics which have been explained earlier on this event. The Kahoot games have successfully to grab the student’s attention and they were very enthusiastic to play the Kahoot.
It’s hoped this event will provide enthusiasm and motivation for RC students while also developing the knowledge on both academic and non-academic.
